AcuNetx Files for Patent Protection on Breakthrough Polygraph Technology

TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AcuNetx, Inc. (OTCBB:ANTX) announced today that it has retained the international law firm of Patton Boggs (www.pattonboggs.com) to file for worldwide patent protection on a unique technology it has developed for polygraph applications - AcuNetx’s Physiological Detection of Deception (PDD) System.

With significant pilot data from an earlier study done under contract from the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute, now known as Defense Academy for Credibility Assessment (www.dodpi.army.mil), and with the AcuNetx PDD System having been recently selected for another university research project, the company will now pursue other avenues of research & development, as well as commercial ventures, for its PDD System.

The technology represents an entirely new approach to detecting truthfulness and relies on eye responses which are proving to be an objective measure of deception. AcuNetx believes that the techniques underlying the PDD system are novel and will eventually prevail as admissible evidence in courts of law.

“I have a special interest in the PDD system,” says Ron Waldorf, CEO and co-inventor with Barbara Mauch, the company’s Sr. V.P. of Technology. “The experience we have gained as a result of our research into eye responses, research that has led to the development of FDA approved computer-based systems for analyzing eye movements related to medical applications (www.intellinetx.com), evolving into products for identifying motorists driving ‘Under the Influence’ (www.acunetx.com/hawkeye) and impaired workers (www.visionetx.com), has permitted us to develop a powerful new tool for the law enforcement community and homeland security agencies. The PDD could revolutionize the way in which we detect deception. Frankly, I feel very positive that we can develop – scientifically and commercially – a product that can have a profound effect on the criminal justice system.”
